“Otto or the Making of A Zombie” – Bruce LaBruce, Photography Exhibition.

Bruce LaBruce’s subversive and often provocative view on Cinema is the reason that drawed the attention of the cinema world already from his first feature back 1991, and it is precisely his incompatible energy that keeps him in the center of attention ever since.
But LaBruce’s creative universe is not limited only in the art of cinema, expanding in photography as well. His inspirational, delightful and shocking photographs have been an integral part of his work for years. In this art exhibition at M art Space, we wanted to explore the point where these two artistic paths converge through a series of photographs he shot himself during the shooting of his new film “Otto, or Up With With Dead People” and that in a sense they summarise his view on art.
At the same time, we decided to include in the exhibition works of two other photographers, Maria Cyber and Despina Zacharopoulou, his collaborators in the film, inspired by the same images but looking at them from a different angle, offering a useful and interesting insight of his reality.
Finally completing the picture of his own artistic family as it was formed in “Otto, or Up With Dead People”, we present the costumes designed for the film by Rick Owens and pieces from his new collection in collaboration with Sotris. While we give carte blanche to the director Fivo Kontogianni and his collaborators Hector Koufopoulos and Nikos Tseberopoulos to create a video that perfectly completes an exhibition that could only be as strange as Bruce La Bruce’s films.
