“Cobalt | Porcelain” – Olga Aleksopoulos, Solo Painting Exhibition.

From the 9th century in China, with a stable historical continuity, the cobalt as a material, reached Aegina in 2012. It is a complex technique with only means, the cobalt, a blue color – something between the color of the sky and the color of the sea – and a porcelain plate instead of canvas. Seldom on these works you will find chunks of gold or gray. In China, porcelain was considered a luxury object and later on, a piece of art that entered the houses of people, a modern trend that is slowly introduced in Greece. Olga Alexopoulou is the bringer of this trend in Greece. With her favorite blue notes, she paints on small and large porcelain pieces depicting empty landscapes flanked by distant mountains. The feeling of loss, the distance, is evident in her works, the atmosphere of a seemingly dead landscape which hides the greatest source of life within the perpetual motion of water flowing in the rivers.
